The five Tom the Lion wellbeing books

01 / Stories for wellbeing

Tom the Lion

Big feelings. Little adventures.

Join Tom and his squirrel friends, Sid and Hazel, as they discover everyday ways to feel good about themselves and their lives.

The Tom’s Day series brings the Five Ways to Wellbeing to life through five illustrated stories: Connect, Keep Learning, Be Active, Take Notice and Give.

  • Ages 5–8
  • English & Welsh
  • Five-book series
More about the books

Published in 2024, these books are designed for young, newly independent readers. Raven’s education team took inspiration from the New Economics Foundation’s Five Ways to Wellbeing to introduce these ideas through accessible, age-appropriate stories.

Tom is also the character at the heart of our Sleeping Lions resource, connecting the stories with another way to explore calm and wellbeing.

02 / Whole-class wellbeing

PausePoints

A moment to pause. Ready to learn.

Bring moments of stillness into a busy school day. PausePoints uses short videos, yoga-inspired movements and breathing techniques to help primary pupils settle, reset and refocus.

Sessions take just a couple of minutes and fit around your timetable, at the beginning or end of a lesson or between activities, right in the classroom.

  • Primary schools
  • Guided videos
  • A few minutes a day
More about PausePoints

Designed as a whole-school digital resource, PausePoints gives teachers a simple, structured way to introduce regular wellbeing breaks without adding complex preparation to their workload.

  • Supports calm transitions between classroom activities.
  • Encourages breathing techniques and self-regulation.
  • Gives pupils practices they can use beyond the classroom.
  • Adapts to your school’s own timetable.

03 / Individual wellbeing

Sleeping Lions

Finding calm, one breath at a time.

Sleeping Lions (Classic) combines guided relaxation with biometric feedback to help children practise self-regulation and manage feelings of anxiety.

Through immersive activities, children help Tom the lion calm down, lower his heart rate and fall asleep, exploring their own ability to relax along the way.

  • Biometric feedback
  • Guided relaxation
  • Self-regulation
More about Sleeping Lions

The resource uses a tablet, headphones and a biometric watch to support an individual experience of relaxation and feedback. It is designed to encourage calm and focus in the classroom.
